Do you live in the Atlanta area or visiting and need plans? Then, visit the newest premier shopping destination, New Black Wall Street Market, just opened in Stonecrest, Georgia.

The market, which is a product of Allen Entrepreneurial Institute, will host more than 60 Black-owned businesses, including restaurants, a jazz club, and an art gallery. According to New Black Wall Street Market’s website, the new shopping center will be “a destination for family fun, entertainment, retail, gourmet grocery shopping, and fine dining.”

The founder of the Allen Entrepreneurial Institute, Lecester “Bill” Allen, is looking at a former Target to serve as the venue for the new market. The market already has had two pop-up events over the summer to gear up for the grand opening in September.

“We feel like this is a destination development,” the project leader for the New Black Wall Street Market, Matthew Hampton, said in an interview with The Atlanta Voice. “From a market perspective, Stonecrest is a great place for this to happen cause it’s 95% black.”

Hampton hopes the New Black Wall Street Market will be a chance to “create the culture” and support minority-owned small businesses in the process. New Black Street Market will help further Allen Entrepreneurial Institute’s mission “to increase the size and number of minority and women-owned businesses throughout the United States and globally.”

The developers were intentional about making the New Black Wall Street Market reminiscent of the architectural style of the original. “We couldn’t open this thing, and people feel like it’s a flea market. They gotta come here and be wowed, like ‘they really put the textures, the brick treatment.’ They gotta feel and see all that,” said Hampton.

Some of the market’s halls will be named after great Black entrepreneurs such as Madame C. J. Walker and A. G. Gatson. To hone the entrepreneurial spirit even further, the New Black Street Market will also help startup businesses by providing training programs.
